Coach Massimiliano Allegri has warned his players that they are entering a crucial period of the campaign and cannot afford to keep making mistakes in defence.
The Bianconeri eased past Milan last night to open a ten-point gap at the top of the Italian Serie A but the Italian was unhappy with a number of mistakes at the back.
"The lads played a good game, except in certain moments," Allegri said.
"In the first half I thought we should have been more careful when defending set-pieces but we did well when we had chances from set-pieces, in fact we scored from them.
"In the second half [goalkeeper Gianluigi] Buffon produced a great save after we made a mistake in defence, unfortunately we conceded 2-3 goals after making these type of mistakes this season.
"But all in all I would say it was a good game, we created a lot, made some mistakes in the final third and failed to score more against a very aggressive Milan side.
"Winning was important, these three points allow us to stay +7 from Roma, if they win [on Sunday]. There's still a long way to go, there is the Italian Cup, the Champions League, so we have to approach all games with a confident approach and with care.
"This group has to be aware that they are amongst the best there is. Then clearly, we have to improve to reach certain levels else in Europe you pay the price when you make mistakes."
