Juventus defender Andrea Barzagli says it's vital for the Bianconeri to qualify from the group stage of the Champions League.
The reigning Italian champions were knocked out of last year's competition after suffering a late Wesley Sneijder goal against Galatasaray with the defender hoping not to see history repeating itself.
"We hope to do well, at least to get through the group stage," Barzagli is quoted as saying by TuttoJuve.com.
"Last year was tough for us, especially because the year before we did well before crashing out to future champions Bayern Munich.
"Let's hope to do better this time around and the first step is to make it through the group stage.
"But it will not be easy, the Champions League is always a tough competition."
The Bianconeri will host Udinese when the Serie A resumes next week and the 33-year-old is aware of the strength of Andrea Stramaccioni's side.
"Udinese started well," added Barzagli.
"It's the same team with Di Natale as the key element, who never gets tired of scoring.
"They did well during the transfer window, they always have good, young players in their squad so they will surely come at Juventus Stadium to do well.
"We definitely have to be focused."
