Chelsea club legend Michael Essien is convinced that Jose Mourinho would be delighted to add Romelu Lukaku to his Manchester United squad.
It was the Portuguese who sold the Belgium international in 2014 when at Chelsea but the Ghanaian is convinced that the relationship between the two is still a solid one.
Recent reports have claimed that the Red Devils are not interested in the 24-year-old because of Mourinho but Essien believes the two can work together.
"If Jose wants him and he wants to play for Jose then yes they can work together," he told the Manchester Evening News.
"They both have to want to work with each other for that to happen and if the desire is there then yes they can work together.
"In general it [my relationship with Mourinho] was good and normal.
"We all had different relationships with Jose and mine, as everyone knows, is like a father and son.
"I won't say Romelu's relationship with Jose was the same as mine but, in general, it was normal and they respected each other."
