Manchester United boss Jose Mourinho "is looking to bring in" Zenit Saint Petersburg's defender Ezequiel Garay according to The Times.
Recent reports have claimed that the Portuguese is not happy with what he saw so far in pre-season, especially in defence, and has asked the club to sign at least one central defender before the start of the English Premier League.
The 29-year-old has been linked with Internazionale and Chelsea in June but the Red Devils are determined to make a move to secure the services of the central defender.
United are expected to complete the signing of midfielder Paul Pogba this week.
But Mourinho is also working hard to strengthen his defensive department ahead of next week.
Juventus defender Leonardo Bonucci and Southampton's Jose Miguel da Rocha Fonte have also been linked with a move to Old Trafford.
