Manchester United have confirmed that defender Guillermo Varela has joined Eintracht Frankfurt on a season-long loan deal.
The 23-year-old enjoyed 10 starts for the Red Devils.
He featured against Wigan Athletic in United's first pre-season friendly of the summer.
Eintracht sporting director Bruno Hubner was delighted after the two clubs reached the agreement.
"Guillermo Varela is a very talented young player who has already shown what he can do at two massive clubs," he told the club's official website.
"We're in no doubt that he'll add competition to the team, especially in his preferred position on the right-hand side of defence."
The Uruguayan said: "I'm looking forward to playing for Frankfurt.
"I've already seen a few Bundesliga games on the television and was really impressed by the atmosphere among the fans."
