Manchester United have agreed a €120m deal to sign Paul Pogba from Juventus, according to French daily L'Equipe.
The Frenchman will become Jose Mourinho's fourth summer signing at the club.
Agent Mino Raiola has rubbished the report on Twitter but the Red Devils are determined to bring the midfielder to Old Trafford.
Meanwhile, Mourinho was tight-lipped over his pursuit of the marquee signing wanted by the fans.
"I don't confirm and I don't deny [that we have agreed to sign Pogba]. I cannot tell," he said.
"First of all, because I don't think it's correct to speak about players from other clubs. He's a Juventus player not a Manchester United player.
"We have three players to fill that profile. I am really confident that Mr Woodward and the owners will bring me that profile of player."
