New Manchester United manager Jose Mourinho could make a surprise move to sign Napoli attacking midfielder Lorenzo Insigne, Kick Off reported on Friday.
The 25-year-old is currently in action with the Italian national team at Euro 2016 and will probably start in Italy's last game of Group E against Ireland.
He is one of the many players Napoli don't want to sell this summer but according to the article he is a potential replacement for Juan Mata at Old Trafford.
Last week, agent Franco Della Monica has rubbished rumours linking his client with a move to Barcelona.
"Lorenzo will have an excellent Euro and what matters is that the lad and Napoli want to stay together," his agent told Radio Crc.
"[Club president] De Laurentiis has always said that Insigne will be the Totti of Napoli and that's to say that the Roma attacker has always been rewarded and at the same time Insigne expects the same treatment.
"Barcelona's chasing Insigne? I don't want to go into details. Lorenzo deserves important clubs and Napoli is one of them. I'm certain that De Laurentiis will reward the player like he deserves."
