Manchester United boss Jose Mourinho says he signed Eric Bertrand Bailly because of his "natural talent".
The 22-year-old became the club's first summer signing after joining from Villarreal for £30million.
He impressed last year when he helped Ivory Coast win the Africa Cup of Nations.
He signed a four-year-contract with the Red Devils.
"Eric is a young central defender with great natural talent," Mourinho told the club's official website.
"He has progressed well to date and has the potential to become one of the best around.
"We look forward to working with him to help nurture that raw talent and fulfil his potential. Eric is at the right club to continue his development."
