Manchester United manager Jose Mourinho wants the club to spend £54m to sign Atletico Madrid youngster Saul Niguez.
The 21-year-old has recently signed a new contract with the Spanish giants with his release clause increased from £34million to £54million.
But the Portuguese is determined to make him one of his summer signings at Old Trafford.
After extending his contract at the start of the month, the Spaniard said: "I am very happy to be able to keep representing this jersey."
Atletico sporting director Jose Luis Perez Caminero added: "We are all very happy with the agreement reached with Saul.
"He is an excellent footballer, who learned his trade in our academy, and this reinforces our commitment to players formed in-house.
"He is in great form at the moment, but can improve still more as he has enormous potential."
