Manchester United midfielder Morgan Schneiderlin says Louis van Gaal's honesty was the main reason why he left Southampton to move to Old Trafford.
The 25-year-old was a target for Arsenal and Paris Saint-Germain according to summer reports but the Red Devils won the race after making a £25m offer to the Saints.
He signed a four-year contract with the option to extend it by a further year and enjoyed regular first-team football in the team since making the move.
"I was on vacation with my girlfriend and my friends," Schneiderlin is quoted as saying by Express Sport.
"My agent called me to warn me that Louis van Gaal will call me.
"I kept my phone with me all day.
"Louis van Gaal sent me a text message to see if he can call me in the afternoon. I told him that he can call me whenever he wants. He was honest and frank."
