Manchester United have offered Ashley Young a new three-year contract, according to reports.
Reports claimed last month that the 30-year-old was going to leave the club during the summer transfer window but he is now expected to stay after the departure of Angel Di Maria.
Last week, the Englishman declared that his desire was to stay at Old Trafford.
"A lot of people thought I had it [a new deal] done but I haven't," Young is quoted as saying by the Daily Star.
"It's in the club's hands now, so I will have to see how it goes.
"I'm desperate to stay. I'm at one of the biggest clubs in the world so I want to stay here as long as possible. That's exactly what I want to do.
"I've had conversations with the club. I hope we can sort things out. There have been preliminary talks but I'll leave my agent to take care of that.
"Will the contract be sorted soon? You'll have to ask the club that."
