Bastian Schweinsteiger on his debut and his fitness level

By

Manchester United midfielder Bastian Schweinsteiger was happy with his debut after victory over Club America at Seattle's CenturyLink Field.

The 30-year-old became one of the Premier League's most interesting signings of the summer after he left Bayern Munich to move to Old Trafford.

He came on at half-time to assess his fitness level and get used to his new team-mates with Morgan Schneiderlin getting the only goal of the game.

"It was great," Schweinsteiger told Manchester United's official website.

"An absolutely great feeling to wear the jersey and I think we also played well and I am looking forward to playing more games, especially at Old Trafford.

"I was more excited and not so much nervous. I was excited to see how it is and also about my fitness.

"It was a good test for myself, to see how it is. I felt okay so that was a good sign.

"I felt quite sharp. In the last 10 minutes, it was a little bit harder to breath. But especially the first 30 to 35 minutes, I think, it was good."
