Manchester United boss Louis van Gaal has refused to discuss his transfer target names amid link to Sampdoria's Sergio Romero.
The 28-year-old has joined a long list of goalkeepers shortlisted to take over from David De Gea as United's regular goalkeeper.
But the Dutchman refused to be drawn too much on the Spaniard's future.
"I cannot say if Romero will join or not," van Gaal is quoted as saying by TuttoMercatoWeb.
"As I said in the past, I cannot speak about the club's transfer strategy.
"All I can say is that a new goalkeeper could join in the transfer window but we could also decide not to sign a new goalkeeper.
"It all depends on [David] De Gea. He is training with us and doing so in the best possible way."
