Manchester United’s attempts to identify a potential replacement for David de Gea have suffered a blow after Atletico Madrid reportedly rejected an approach for Jan Oblak, Metro has revealed.
According to the report, the Red Devils were ready to pay £17m to secure the services of the 22-year-old but the Spanish giants rejected the offer.
Regular goalkeeper David De Gea has started pre-season with the club despite rumours linking him with a move to Real Madrid.
The Spaniard's contract expires in the summer of 2016 and Real Madrid could decide to wait one year in order to sign the goalkeeper for free in next year's summer transfer window.
