Bayern Munich are ready to make a shock move for Manchester United winger Angel Di Maria.
The German giants faced heavy criticism after crashing out of the Champions League at the hands of Barcelona and are determined to strengthen the squad ahead of next season.
According to Bild, technical director Michael Reschke is in Chile to open negotiations with the player who is currently in action with the national team in the Copa America.
But the transfer is unlikely to happen.
The 27-year-old made it clear that after the Copa America he will return to Manchester to prepare for next season with boss Louis van Gaal not interested in selling the player.
Also, Bayern Munich CEO Karl-Heinz Rummenigge confirmed last week that the German giants will not pay insane fees to sign players during the summer.
"Bayern Munich are definitely not going to buy any player for 100 million euros," Rummenigge told Bild.
"The fact is we do want quality and we will do certain things. But the transfer window has only just opened and we already have a high-quality squad."
