Manchester United boss Louis van Gaal says the first-half display in the 1-1 draw at West Ham United was not good enough.
The Red Devils lost the third place in the table after only managing a draw against Sam Allardyce's side and the Dutchman says it is vital for his players to be focused from the very first minute of the game in the future.
"We played very badly in the first half and showed a lot of spirit in the second half," van Gaal told Sky Sport and BBC Sport after the game.
"We gave away that goal and then played football but you have to do it from the first minute.
"But what spirit after the goal and I thanked my players for that.
"I'm pleased that we have a draw here.
"[In the first half] when we had the ball we didn't play it along the floor. When we lost the ball, you have to win the first and second balls much quicker.
"In the second half we showed how good we can be in spite of all circumstances here. That's why I am happy with second half and we could have won, but you never start like that.
"I'm happy for Daley Blind but he also has to play better in first half.
"With Marouane Fellaini you have to change your playing style. That's what we did and because of him we created lots of chances."
