Manchester City boss Manuel Pellegrini has confirmed that defender Vincent Kompany will not feature against West Ham United.
The Belgium international joins defenders Pablo Zabaleta and Gael Clichy as well as midfielders Fabian Delph and Samir Nasri on the sidelines.
Striker Sergio Aguero is however fit and will start against the Hammers.
"Vincent [Kompany] is not fit for the game," Pellegrini told reporters.
"Zabaleta, Clichy, Delph also and Nasri had a kick in the last game. He's not 100% for tomorrow.
"We didn't concede any goals in the first five games so it's important to play with the same team as much as you can. I never complain about the players we don't have though as that's why we have two players for every position.
"For Vincent, it's a calf injury – he won't be involved against Sunderland but we'll see for Spurs. We're lucky as we have other leaders inside the team – we have Yaya or Joe Hart or Otamendi or Silva – we have players who can assume the role of captain in the team.
"Pablo needs one more week more with the physio. I hope at the end of this month he will be OK. Sergio has recovered well from his injury and is 100% for tomorrow."
