Manchester City goalkeeper Willy Caballero is ready to work hard to secure a regular place in the squad.
The Argentinean was in goal for the Citizens in their 3-0 defeat against Arsenal in the Community Shield with Joe Hart starting all three Premier League games of the season.
"I knew what the situation was before I came here," Caballero told The Telegraph.
"But I think that I made the decision because I was joining a big club and one that was able to win trophies.
"I also took the decision because I think that when you are inside a big team if you train well and you do well in games then you can play.
"You can be the No.1. I know that I am in the second spot right now. But if I do things well in training sessions then I can get the No.1 spot."
The 32-year-old already worked with manager Manuel Pellegrini and knows what is needed to convince the Manchester City boss.
"I was No.1 with Manuel [Pellegrini] not so long ago at Malaga," added the goalkeeper.
"I know what my position is right now but I will try and work and try to change that.
"The manager knows me but I did not expect him to hand me the No.1 shirt just because I came here.
"I hope that Joe Hart will continue to do great because that will be good for the team.
"But I will be ready and I will try to give the manager all the confidence back.
"I accept my position but also on a daily basis I train hard because we are competing and we want the manager to question himself as to who will be the No.1."
