Manchester City striker Devante Cole will spend the rest of the year at Barnsley after he was loaned out until January 5th.
The 19-year-old, son of former City striker Andy Cole, was described as a "highly-promising young lad" by Barnsley manager Danny Wilson.
"What we've got is a highly-promising young lad who wants to start his league career," Wilson told the club's official website.
"He's had plenty of opportunities to go to clubs, but he's decided we are the right one for him. We're very privileged in that respect."
Wilson is determined to take full advantage of the youngster's pace and clinical finishes and to help him improve in a number of areas of his game.
"Now we have to try and develop him by giving him games at first-team level," added the manager.
"What he has got is great pace and an eye for goal. He can be a very exciting acquisition for us."
