Liverpool boss Brendan Rodgers says midfielder Joe Allen will be out for at least three weeks after suffering a hamstring injury.
The 25-year-old joins striker Daniel Sturridge and defender Jon Flanagan on the sidelines.
Allen and Sturridge are expected to be available after the international break, just in time for the away game against Manchester United.
"He'll [Joe Allen will] probably miss three to four weeks, which is disappointing. He certainly won't be available for the weekend," Rodgers told reporters on Friday.
"The great news with Jon [Flanagan] is that he's working really well and is on target to come back just before Christmas, which would be great news for the squad.
"Daniel [Sturridge] will hopefully be back towards the beginning of September – he's working very hard."
