Liverpool manager Brendan Rodgers was delighted after his side's 3-0 win against Tottenham Hotspur.
Goals from Raheem Sterling, Steven Gerrard and Alberto Moreno were the perfect gift for the Northern Irishman who celebrated his 100th match as Liverpool manager.
"We have risen to every challenge since I've been here," the manager said in his press conference.
"It was the same last year; could we score enough goals, could we improve? But the thing about this team is, we're very hungry."
Liverpool suffered a 3-1 defeat away at Manchester City earlier this week but reacted positively, much to the delight of the manager.
"We lost the game the other night, and then came to a team that has started well, having won two league games," added Rodgers.
"But we showed today that we are a very good side. We clicked back in to where we were last season. That was great to see, and I think people will have enjoyed watching us play too.
"It was an outstanding performance as a team.
"Tactically, we set out with a diamond in midfield. They play with a 4-2-3-1, but the three guys who play behind the striker all play as No.10s, so they are all on the inside of the game.
"We went with the diamond, which allowed us to be, at worst case, equal on the inside, and allowed our full-backs to push on. We had a good hour with that system, then changed to 4-3-3 and controlled the game from there, mostly on the counter attack."
The win saw Liverpool move up to sixth in the table having already faced two strong teams away from home.
Rodgers believes two wins out of three is a reasonable start to the season with the Reds to host Aston Villa when the Premier League resumes after the international break.
"It was a brilliant win. It's a difficult place to come, because they have started well," said the manager.
"Mauricio Pochettino is an excellent coach and, given a bit of time to get that philosophy in place, he will do very well here.
"But it was a great win for us. That's two out of three now, and we are reasonably happy."
