Michy Batshuayi's disappointing game against Burnley has led manager Antonio Conte to ask Chelsea to make a move for Andrea Belotti.
Metro has claimed that the Italian wants to add the 23-year-old to his squad.
The Blues will lose Diego Costa who is expected to return to Atletico Madrid in January.
And Conte wants to replace a world class striker with an equally-strong offensive player before the end of the market transfer window.
Belotti scored 26 goals in last season's Serie A campaign and has been heavily linked with a move to the English Premier League.
He was also linked with Milan but the Rossoneri opted for Nikola Kalinic of Fiorentina.
Chelsea lost their first Premier League game of the season and face a tricky away game at Tottenham Hotspur this weekend.
