CEO Marco Fassone has confirmed that Milan have made contact with Jorge Mendes.
The Rossoneri have been linked with a move for Chelsea striker Diego Costa who will leave Stamford Bridge before the end of the summer transfer window.
Fassone was full of praise for the Spaniard and the two clubs are expected to open talks in the coming days.
"I would prefer to avoid talking about players from other teams," he told Sky Sports.
"Diego Costa is a great player, but a Chelsea player.
"We went to see Jorge Mendes; there is a lot you can talk to him about.
"Costa is a great player but he is of Chelsea. That's all."
