"It's now up to me to work hard" - Defender confirms he will play for Chelsea next season

By

Chelsea defender Kurt Zouma says he will not leave the club during the summer transfer window.

The Frenchman has been linked with with Olympique de Marseille and Sevilla as well as clubs in Italy.

But he is determined to fight for a regular place in Antonio Conte's squad now that he has fully recovered from injury.

"No, [I'm not leaving], I'm very happy at Chelsea. I hear the rumours, it’s flattering," he is quoted as saying by the Daily Star.

"It means I'm a player people are looking at, but I'm not going to stop there. My objective is to stay at Chelsea.

"Next season, we'll start from scratch, there will be a lot of games. The cards will be on the table. It's up to me to work hard.

"I wanted to be really certain I could come back [from injury], and to have the knowledge that I wouldn't be stopped in my tracks again.

"It was the right thing to do."
