Chelsea are expected to finalise the transfer of former Manchester City goalkeeper Willy Caballero in the coming days, Cesar Luis Merlo has revealed on Twitter.
The 35-year-old was deployed a number of times by manager Pep Guardiola after regular goalkeeper Claudio Bravo failed to impress last season.
He was released at the end of the season and the Blues have taken full advantage of the opportunity to secure his services.
The Blues sold reserve goalkeeper Asmir Begovic to Bournemouth last month and are determined to replace the Bosnian as soon as possible.
Caballero was released by the Citizens after they completed the transfer of Ederson Moraes from Benfica.
He is eager to continue his experience in the English Premier League even if it means spending most of his time on the bench.
