Club legend: Chelsea must do this in the transfer market if they want to be title contenders

By

If Chelsea are to be title and Champions League contenders next season they must not sell Eden Hazard, Chelsea legend Ray Wilkins has said.

The Belgium international will be out for three months after suffering an ankle injury but recent reports insist that Real Madrid want to sign him.

But Wilkins has urged his former club to offer the 26-year-old a new contract.

"He's got three years left - keep him for those three years and give him another one!," he told the Alan Brazil Sports Breakfast.

"He lives in one of the finest cities in the planet and he's going to be always winning trophies, because that's the way Mr Abramovich has run Chelsea over the last few years.

"They're a winning club now, they win and they win often.

"But, if they want to progress and be one of the top clubs in European football, they cannot afford to let Eden Hazard move to one of your biggest rivals."
