Sky Sports has revealed that Chelsea midfielder Christian Atsu is close to joining Newcastle on a season-long loan.
The 24-year-old is yet to make his senior debut with the Blues and has been loaned out to Vitesse, Everton, Bournemouth and Malaga in recent seasons.
He impressed during the 2015 African Cup Of Nations but it was not enough to keep his place in then-manager Jose Mourinho's squad at the start of the season.
Manager Antonio Conte confirmed last week that a number of players will leave the club before deadline day on Wednesday.
Atsu will join the likes of Patrick Bamford, Lewis Baker, Baba Rahman and Nathan Ake who were all loaned out during this summer's transfer window.
If the transfer goes through, he will work under manager Rafa Benitez in the Championship.
