Manager makes bold statement after reports claimed striker will become Chelsea's third summer signing

By

Everton striker Romelu Lukaku will not leave the club to join Chelsea as claimed by reports in England and Italy earlier this month.

Manager Ronald Koeman has confirmed that the Belgium international will stay at Goodison Park at least for one more season.

"He told me on Friday that he made the decision by himself to stay for at least one more season," Koeman told reporters.

"It's great news for everybody."

Reports at the start of the month claimed that the 23-year-old told friends that he had "unfinished business" at Stamford Bridge and that he wanted to return to his former club in order to leave their offensive department.

But the Dutchman confirmed that the talented striker, who also received offers from Arsenal this summer, will not leave the club.
