Chelsea manager Antonio Conte is taking in consideration Juventus' Simone Zaza plus cash offer in exchange for Nemanja Matic according to reports in Italy.
The Bianconeri have identified the 28-year-old as the one to take over from Paul Pogba in midfield.
The Blues have been chasing striker Alvaro Morata all summer but Real Madrid made it clear that they want to keep the Spaniard.
Conte has therefore turned his attention to a number of other players including Romelu Lukaku and Simone Zaza, who is the cheaper alternative of the two.
At the end of last month, the Italian insisted that he wants Matic to stay at Stamford Bridge.
"Matic is an important player for me, a very important player," Conte told reporters.
"In my idea of football he is an important player and he knows this.
"N'Golo, Nemanja, Cesc [Fabregas], Oscar, [Nathaniel] Chalobah and [John Obi] Mikel, who is in the Olympics, it is not easy to choose. I want to have this problem."
