Santos president Modesto Roma has confirmed that he held talks with Chelsea but only to build up relationships between the two clubs.
Recent reports have claimed that the Blues are considering a move to sign defensive midfielder Thiago Maia.
They are expected to make a €20 million offer before the end of the summer transfer window.
But Roma says no agreement has been reached for the transfer of any of his players.
"We had productive conversations," he is quoted as saying by the Evening Standard.
"We didn't come to buy or sell players, neither in London or Madrid. We came to build up relationships."
Chelsea have also been linked with Santos striker Gabriel Barbosa who is also a target for Serie A giants Juventus.
