Chelsea will make an offer to sign Torino defender Nikola Maksimovic if they fail in their attempt to land Kalidou Koulibaly, Gianluca Di Marzio has revealed.
The Blues are yet to reach an agreement for the Napoli centre-back even though recent reports have confirmed that he wants to leave the Italian side.
Maksimovic, 24, is also a target for the Partenopei but not to replace the Senegalese but rather to have them both at the disposal of manager Maurizio Sarri.
Napoli will be determined to fight to win the Scudetto this season and they will also be involved in the Champions League having finished last season in second place.
They have lost striker Gonzalo Higuain who joined rivals Juventus for €90million and are expected to use the money to strengthen the defensive and offensive departments before the end of the summer transfer window.
