Napoli striker Gonzalo Higuain could leave the club during the summer transfer window, Calciomercato.it has revealed.
A hero for the Partenopei after scoring 36 goals in one Serie A season, the Argentina international is not happy with how the club is moving in the transfer window and could leave to make a move to the English Premier League.
The player's buy-out clause is set to £79million and according to the article, Chelsea are ready to pay it in order to secure the services of the striker.
Arsenal and Atletico Madrid are also rumoured to be in the race but the Spaniards are not ready to spend more than £75million on one player.
Last week, agent and brother Nicolas Higuain confirmed that the Argentinean will not sign a new contract with the Serie A giants.
"We arrived with a Champions League project, of being champions, of growing, and the response of the company was not the most correct," his agent told Radio Continental.
"It's their right to ask for his buyout clause, but we will opt for the path of not renewing the contract and he will be free in 2018.
"In these conditions we are going to respect the contract that we have with Napoli but we are not going to renew it under any circumstances.
"Gonzalo is super professional and will continue to give the maximum."
