Chelsea midfielder ready to leave Stamford Bridge after chat with Antonio Conte

By

Chelsea midfielder John Obi Mikel will leave the club if he fails to secure a regular place in manager's Antonio Conte squad, Goal has revealed.

The Nigeria international has one year left on his contract and is expected to meet with the Italian at the end of the Euro 2016 Championship to understand if he will be a regular at Stamford Bridge next season.

He struggled for form at the start of last season but was one of Guus Hiddink's main men in midfield in the second part of the campaign.

In March, he made it clear that he will not spend next season warming the bench and will evaluate new options if not guaranteed first-team football.

"I have to play because one thing I don't want to do is to sit on the bench like I did before," Mikel told the same website.

"Wherever it is I just want to play. When this season ends we will definitely sort out the contracts."
