Chelsea owner Roman Abramovich is ready to spend £25million to sign Napoli defender Kalidou Koulibaly, Calciomercato.com has reported.
According to the article, new manager Antonio Conte is desperate to add the strong centre-back to his squad.
The Senegalese's situation is however very complicated.
He will be fined after speaking to L'Equipe without club permission and Napoli president Aurelio De Laurentiis is determined to keep him until the end of his contract.
On Sunday, De Laurentiis said: "[If he will leave?] Absolutely not.
"He has to work for us for three more years and for many more to repay us the damages.
"Contracts are respected here [at Napoli]. Koulibaly is 24, he's not a child. He struggled during his first season here but we defended him. Out of respect to Napoli and [coach Maurizio] Sarri he shouldn't have spoken like that.
"An apology is not enough.
"I never contacted a player before contacting his club [over a possible transfer]. If we find out that Chelsea [made contact], we might also take legal action against them."
