General director Marco Fassone says Internazionale will make a move for winger Mohamed Salah if Chelsea decide to sell the player.
The Egyptian is in the centre of a tug-of-war between Fiorentina and Internazionale with both clubs threatening to take legal action after the player opted not to respect last season's loan agreement with the Viola.
The 23-year-old will return to Stamford Bridge to start pre-season with the Blues as his future remains uncertain.
"The criticisms we have received from Florence have been excessive and unjustified," Fassone told Tuttosport.
"We are waiting to understand what the situation is, because for the time being, it seems that it is not clear who Salah's sporting rights belong to.
"Should he free himself, the Egyptian could be a target of ours."
